I slept late today. It's not like me. I guess I've needed to catch up on sleep, plus I got home at around 2:30 am last night. I basically chilled out at home in the morning, then had a couple of errands to run.
I went to the bank, then the post office, before trying out Phil & Sebastian's coffee shop in Marda Loop. I brought my computer with me, but I couldn't get connected to their internet and they didn't have electrical outlets that I could see. Therefore, I only have about 1 1/2 hours before my battery charge dies on my computer. It was enough time to do a little photo editing, anyway. I also enjoyed a delicious Americano.
After that, I went home and watched a movie, and I had a strong enough signal to upload my blog from the last week. It's been hanging over my head!
Lurline called in the afternoon and wanted to do a few errands, so I went to pick her up and we drove to Ikea. We managed to escape without buying anything! I wonder if that's ever happened to anybody before? Anyway, then we stopped in at Superstore, Walmart and Michael's. She was looking for picture frames, so we priced them all out. Turns out Walmart had the best deal, of course.
Then we drove South to the "cheap" theatre and bought tickets to see Larry Crowne with Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. We had about an hour to kill before the movie started, so we went to a local pub and had a drink. The movie was light and entertaining. You can't really go wrong with Tom Hanks.
Anyway, it was after 11pm by the time the movie ended and I still hadn't taken a photo. I dropped Lurline off at home, then tried to think of a place I could take a picture at night. I only had about 15 minutes before midnight, and then I would've missed my photo for Saturday ... So, I took this photo from a park on my way home - it's of the Glenmore Reservoir. It's probably not the best, but I didn't have a lot of time.
In 2011, I took a photo every day for 100 days over the summer. This is the result... All photos are copyright protected. To request a photo, please check out my website at www.liquidfog.ca.

I had a few more things that I needed today, so I headed over to the Raposos to borrow some tools, picture hanging supplies and a couple things I left behind. Then, Lurline, Talia and I headed to Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart. Talia and I bought some shoes for work - we both needed closed-toe shoes. Then we all did some grocery shopping. Afterwards, Talia came to see my apartment. She read her Cosmo magazine while I puttered around doing some odd jobs. Then, she tried on some of my dresses and shoes - she's looking for stuff she could wear to the bar when she goes out. I told her she could borrow whatever she wanted until she got some of her own dresses. Every girl should have at least ONE little black dress, right?
Lurline and Dave came to pick her up a little later. Afterwards, I did some laundry and a little more cleaning and organizing. It's kind of a challenge that I don't have internet or TV, so I've been doing a lot more reading. I couldn't update my blog, so I've been writing everything and just saving it on my hard drive for when I get connected again.
This is how bare my apartment looks. It echoes. I got some nice stuff, though. The sofa was $40, the solid oak table with four chairs and glass table top was $100, the chair with foot stool was $12, the lamp was $10, and the 2 white end tables were essentially free. I even got the clock on the wall from Value Village for a couple of dollars. I'm thrifty.

Not sure how we wasted most of the day today, but we did. We went to the garden centre and Canadian Tire. Lurline and Dave bought a few plants and some mulch for the front of their house. Then we went to a show home furniture sale, with a lot of very high quality, but expensive, furniture. Obviously nobody bought anything. Then we went to Liquidation World and found out that they've been bought by Big Lots from the U.S. That should be good because we really like shopping at Big Lots when we go to the States. After that, we went to XS Cargo in the north, then finally headed to Costco. Nobody escapes Costco without spending money ... we all bought stuff.
After dinner, Lurline and I were going to head to a movie, but I had to get a photo first. We went for a drive towards Chestermere, but I didn't get a shot. We had to rush back to make it to the show, but the ones we wanted to see were either started already or sold out, so we drove around looking for a place to take a good photo. I drove us to Lakeview to the park there, and it was beautiful. Here's one of the views:

My parents and I left pretty early this morning to go down to Bellingham. I have to admit, I spent a little more money than I had anticipated. I only bought one $4 item in Big Lots, but then when I got to Ross, it was another story. Everything seemed to fit me, and I was finding some great clothes for work. I like to represent myself well when I start a new position, so I've got myself some really nice outfits. I even got three new dresses - one of them a little black number!
We met my Auntie Betty for lunch, and had a nice visit. It was good to see her before I leave for Calgary. After lunch, we made it to Big Kmart, where I bought a couple more little items, then we went to Walmart. I always like to stop at Walmart because I can get wine so cheap. It was about $9 U.S. for a magnum of Shiraz. Brilliant!
It was getting pretty late in the afternoon by this point, so we headed home. Dad and I played a little guitar together when we got home, then we watched a movie. It was a fantastic day!
